Just a couple more days before the biggest Vietnamese and Chinese New Year Holiday ever celebrated annually. By the way it’s New Year not News Year LOL for some English as second language person like me LOL.
Anyhow it is the biggest Holiday ever celebrate in Vietnam, and especially in my small town in Vietnam, a small village country side back in the 1980s, there wasn’t any television or electricity or running water or telephone … not even sewer system or motor vehicle or much bicycle. At the time I go to school by walking, we grow our own crops, fish our back yard creek where variety of fresh water fishes and sort of clean water with lots of healthy mud! 🙂
However now a day present day that is, 2013, this small village locate in Go Cong Tay Tinh Tien Giang, now have it’s province as Tan Phu Dong no longer Go Cong Tay, but the township is still Tan Thoi, the name hasn’t change, but the the town has. There are plenty of cars and buses, and off course all the convenient such as cell phone, internet, LCD flat screen TV, and some house even equip with solar power wind turbine and so on. Sadly, it is no longer the small rural country village it used to be back in the 1980s. I remember hearing even a motor bike, as kids, I would run out and wait for it to go by, just to see something different. Back then, I also notice there were many Air Fighter Jet practicing before few weeks before TET, but I don’t think they’re still doing that, either the Jet Fighter doesn’t serve much purpose for the economy 🙂
Missed you Cu Lao Tan Thoi as it used to be in 1980s. Here are some pictures taken by one of the Tan Thoi School district in Vietnam, courtesy of Mr. Hanh Nguyen or should I say teacher Hanh Nguyen
