I have been trying to this for a long time. Part of it because my water dispenser no longer producing cold water and I don’t really want to fix it, since we don’t normally drink cold water anyways, and I’m trying to disable the cold water completely, the only ways I know how without thinking too much is to cut the wire to the compressor, and boy was I wrong. When I open the back panel, I can see a few wires and I thought the wires that run to the compressors are the one I can disconnect without hurting or affecting the hot water, err wrong again, there are bunch of wires and I didn’t know which one, it’s like disabling a bomb lol. Anyhow I noticed there’s a switch with a dial where I can stink in a flat head screw driver and turn, then I located the hot water button, and so I know there’s a hot water on/off switch and so the dial switch must be for the refrigeration unit to keep water cold, and voila! I was right 🙂 the dial can be turned off completely after hearing a click, and off course it work, I put the panel back, plug it in, and I no longer hear the buzzing annoying loud sound of the compressor, and the hot water still work hours later so it’s working now. Hot water still good, no more cold water and no more annoying vibrating buzzing soud.
Quick shut off: just simply turn the dial all the way down until hear a click, this disabled the compressor refrigeration unit for cold water.
