Not just for kids, but this questions for all travelers who will be traveling to Vietnam. My family, my wife and I and the kids, we asked this question, to the family doctor and they recommended for the kids for certain part of Vietnam, and they strongly recommended a typhoid shot if we’re heading to Vietnam Saigon or Ho Chi Minh City which is South of Vietnam. We stopped by Doctor Express and had it done there, including other necessary travel shots for the kids to Vietnam, it’s important to tell the doctor where you will be staying and for how long and off course when, those combination can help travel doctor analyse which shots you will be needing, most likely it will not be coming from your family doctor but a doctor specialize in traveling certain part of the world where they know what disease got hit by. So what is typhoid?
Typhoid fever, also known as typhoid,[1] is a common worldwide bacterial disease, transmitted by the ingestion of food or water contaminated with the feces of an infected person, which contain the bacterium Salmonella typhi, serotype Typhi.[2][3]
The disease has received various names, such as gastric fever, abdominal typhus, infantile remittant fever, slow fever, nervous fever, pythogenic fever, etc. The name of “typhoid” means “resembling typhus” and comes from the neuropsychiatric symptoms common to typhoid and typhus.[4] Despite this similarity of their names, typhoid fever and typhus are distinct diseases and are caused by different species of bacteria.[5]
