Power outage killed my computer power supply (PSU) and impacted my Bitcoin mining operations

If you live in regions where there are a lot of natural disaster, such as high wind, frequent storm such as thunder, lighting, and tornado, earthquake, whatever. If if impact your power, then it’s probably not a good idea to run a data center or doing Bitcoin Crypto coin mining operation.

Electrical power surge will kill your electrical equipment if not protected with a surge protector. In my case, the power outage was more than 24 hours. When it came back on, I tried to bring all my miners up and running, but one failed. The failure was due to a broken power supply, probably got friend, and I don’t know if it’s still under warranty, will check later.

Luckily I have a bunch of power supply lying around and was able to swap it quick, up and running. What a relief, if not I would be loosing 400GH/s of mining power for Bitcoin. Anyone doing mining know the important of keeping your miner up and running at all time.

Bottom line, if run mining operations, don’t consider a power generator because it will cost a fortune, you would need major watts power deliver in order to keep your miners running, and I mean at least 10k watts like me and I only have 5TH/s of mining power. So it’s better to simply ensure your devices are connected to a power strip or power outlet that have surge protector, so that when power surge or outage will not fry your equipment.

If you’re going to buy a power generator, I can assure you that if you do the math, you will know it’s not worth it, it’s better to take that money and buy Bitcoin directly.
