GPU mining can still be profitable and how to cool your rigs during the hot summer months?
People can still make money mining cryptocoin with GPUs, so don’t just sell your GPUs on ebay just yet. Yes scrypt asic is coming out from KNC and many other manufacturer, so yes eventually asic will take over the scrypt mining hardware, while GPU will not longer be profitable! That is true!
But! as you know there are development of newer scrypt algo to be immune to asic such as scrypt-n and many others are currently being developed. Currently the most popular one are probably scrypt-n vertcoin, prediction from many says that it will rise once KNC scrypt and many other asic manufacturer ship their equipment, at that time GPU will be no longer be feasible or profitable mining straight scrypt, so with many people already know scrypt-n and other scrypt algo exist, they will switch.
Scrypt-N vertcoin for example is going up, and sometime beat scrypt coins based on coinwarz.com and IRC chat room vertcoin.

It look like some sort of gas geyser ignite in flame. However the picture appears to have taken early morning or dawn, it’s not clear, on top of that it’s black and white image. For many UFO fanatic they look at it as alien or martian or actual UFO visiting Mars just like us visiting Mars. I was hoping for life form like martian or something but NASA already confirmed it, it’s not if you believe NASA and the government that is LOL

Not with just KNCminer, but all other ASIC crypto miners new equipment 28nm are being delayed the same. It doesn’t matter if BFL or AMT or FastHash, Cointera, don’t matter, because they all get their chips the same time from 28nm chips manufacturer. Then they will work on putting it together to make it mine bitcoin, scrypt coin whatever. So it’s a matter of having the fastest team engineer to get the chips work fast and ship.

This is an important statement which we would like to make clear. As always there is a lot of information available on the internet and a lot of speculation about the technology we are using some of it true and some of it completely wrong. What we can say is that the technology we have chosen is cutting edge and this means a lot of companies are careful about adopting such technologies.
We at KnCMiner pride ourselves in bringing the latest technologies to our customers. We over engineer our chips and don’t promise anywhere near the actual 100% performance they could possibly achieve. This enables us to use the latest and greatest chips safely. So when you read about much longer timelines for this technology it’s important to note they are not our timelines. We have a very different approach. We over engineer our chips and only use world class partners in our chip designs. These important factors allow us to have the technology in our customer’s hands faster than other companies.Neptune progress update.
Our Neptune product is currently in fabrication stage at the TSMC Foundry in Asia. We are actively pushing to get the chips as fast as possible to our assembly factories in Sweden. We have of course taken all steps to make sure that the process is done as fast as possible. We know as well as everyone in this business that time is a critical part of the process. Which we think is why we have come up with a few alternatives to anyone who doesn’t want to wait for their product.

First it’s important to note that we don’t expect to be late at all everything is on track. It’s just always good to have a backup plan. Second our mega-data center in the north of Sweden is nearing completion so we can give out some more details. All customers of Neptune’s will be able to use completely free of charge our data center to hash for them at 3TH either on our pool or a pool of their choice while they wait for their product to be shipped. The first customers (batch 1) are expected to be hashing in our data center in early June and the last customer will hash in our data center around the last week of June. All the customers will be able to hash in that data center for as long as we are late in shipping your Neptune product, this service will be provided on a best effort basis. We have a 24/7 operations teams in place with multiple redundant internet and power connections and we will aim to have as close to 0 down time as possible.
Convert your Neptune order to a 3TH Jupiter.
For those customers who no longer want to wait for their Neptune we have another new option for you. We are releasing for shipment a new 3TH product. We have a total of 400 of these setups available which are based on our existing and proven 28nm chips. Each setup contains
18 of our own 28nm 8 DC/DC module ASIC boards with coolers,
3 controller cards,
all cables needed,
Power supplies not included.
The boards are in aluminum boxes, each box contains 3 chips side by side with front and rear cooling vents. Each controller card runs two boxes. This option will be offered free of charge for anyone wanting to convert their Neptune to a 3TH Jupiter. If more than 400 people want to have the conversion we will ship in order of payment for the original Neptune order. This offer will be open for 7 days for people to contact us. After 7 days from today the exchange will be frozen and people will be contacted who made it onto the queue. The products will then be shipped from stock as soon as possible. Just want to drop a few words
Hey yo! Haven’t got a chance to blog much lately. Been busy with projects at work and family. Well you know family first, job second, blog next.
A few things I have been doing. Research scrypt-n. If you’re into bitcoin mining, you would probably know scrypt mining. Basically bitcoin mine with sha256 algo, while scrypt and scrypt-n diff. algo. SHA256 no longer profitable mining with GPUs, all ASICs now. Scrypt ASIC now are available and the price are dropping, eventually ASIC script will take over scrypt mining as well. GPUs have good chances to sustain mining scrypt-n coins, not popular now but eventually it will be popular. Otherwise GPU will flood ebay, cheap price for gamer, if those GPU are still good, since due to the abuse of cryptocoin mining overclock, firmware modification and so on.
Malaysia airline 370, finally some closure, but still not proof yet. Based on intelligence data, the plane crashed into the ocean on the west coast of Australia, in the Indian ocean, no chance of anyone would survive. Search has been suspended due to bad weather. Just a a couple more days the beacon that send a signal will run out of battery and will be very difficult to find the plan beneath the ocean.

Finally the weather this year is unbelievable. East Coast USA here, already spring and we got snow!, that’s right snow! and freezing cold in the 20s at night and high 30s day time. Something tell me this summer will be cold. This time last year 2013 we already see 60s 70s temperature but not this year 2014
Scrypt-N vertcoin VTC immune to asic? the next big thing?
By now, many people had been involved with cryptocoin mining would have heard the new coin Vertcoin VTC and many other will come out soon. These coin can only be mined with GPUs CPUs if you want, but ASIC probably will be difficult to follow up. Meaning that it’s possible for ASIC chip to mine these new scrypt-n algo, but the chips design has to be change constantly, making it next to impossible to mine scrypt-n feasibly or in a practical manner.
So far, the only coin looks promising is vertcoin. It has been doing very well so far. Has been on top 3 based on coinwarz.com if anyone trust coinwarz which many people does. As of now a lot of people are selling their GPU on ebay because of ASIC scrypt had came out shipping and price getting lower and eventually will take over GPU scrypt mining.
My personal opinion on this is that, scrypt-n will save GPU miners, so don’t get scare and trash all your GPU yet, look at scrypt-n algo. Vertcoin for example has been rising.

Finally got my Verizon Fios Quantum Fios 50/30 although the actual speed is a lot faster
I have been putting this aside for so long. Finally a few days ago I’ve decided to go for it. Upgraded my Verizon Fios to Quantum speed with special bundle package. 2 years agreement of $89.99 comes out to be about $100 a year for this package for 2 years. The bundle package includes HD TV and telephone, although I never use the home phone, don’t even need it activated.
There isn’t a self install kit for this, I had to scheduled the appointment with the Verizon technician. The man came, and was very friendly and helpful guy. Appointment window was 11AM to 2PM, but he came at 12noon and finished at 2pm, although he could have finished sooner, but it was due to the fact that the equipment he had was defective. Very nice technician, he even installed a new router for me free, well because he couldn’t get the older router to work with the TV Set Top box so call. The old verizon router I believe is working, but not 100% sure if it will work with cable tv set top box since it didn’t work when he first set it up.
My actual upload speed now is over what they say which were 50/30 but it’s faster than that based on speedtest.net.

My new verizon Quantum speed upgraded faster than advertised
My experience with Verizon Fios has been positive here in North East of the USA. Speed has been fast always, but sometime, some rare occasion appears to have some kind of latency problems. I have two Fiber Optics at this location. One for business and the other one for residential. I’m thinking of upgrading the business speed also. Will see.
Daylight saving time change set your clock one hour ahead forward Sunday March 9th 2014
Just in case you forgot! Today Sunday March 9th 2014, it’s daylight saving time changing, set your clock forward one hour. Last night 1AM became 2AM. If you have a computer or mobile devices, most likely it will adjust it for automatically, or at least it will ask you to confirm whether you want the change or not, it will not force you.
To many people it’s an hour loosing. Instead of having an 8 hours sleep, most will have the feeling or actually only had 7 hours of sleeping. That is if you slept at 9PM last night, but actually you slept at 10PM last night. To many others, they don’t care.
In the USA, there is a state that never observe any kind of daylight saving time changing. I believe it was Arizona.
