Is Ghash.io the pools to mine Bitcoin and Scrypt coins?

Short answer: Yes, it’s probably is. Mainly because of the massive hash rate. However the system configuration might be same as other pool such as Btcguild.com. People reported that they have better hash rate on btcguild.com but not making as much due to various factors such as luck and fees.

No doubt Ghash.io has been the dominant pool on Bitcoin mining (SHA256), and also with Scrypt mining also. Currently Scrypt on ghash.io is about 10GH/s, while other pools are much smaller.

Gash.io appears to have private mining farm. Meaning that a great percentage of their hash rate came from their own mining hardware. In other word, ghash.io have a data center that have a lot of mining hardware hook up. In addition they’re making more money off of public miners. However ghash.io have no fees, that is just amazing, but they do have transactions fee, such as the fee for withdrawing Bitcoin, but very small fee. While other pools have at least 1-3% fees.

Is Bitcoin mining still profitable? July 2014 onward

The short answer is: NO. Mining is no longer profitable, unless you have a large mining farm data center, and I’m not talking about the small one that you run in your large basement or garage or even your whole barn house whatever, it just not profitable anymore. The fact of the matter is that the difficulty had risen to high you would need super fast mining rigs that cost a fraction of anyone individual person can obtain. I’m talking about the actual manufacturer of Bitcoin mining equipment. They’re the one who can mine and make money, not the individual person like you and me.

This goes the same for Scrypt mining, not just Bitcoin, SHA256, Scrypt, Scrypt-n and so forth. It is no longer profitable, totally not profitable for individual. So please don’t try to hurt yourself, and say that you’re doing it as a hobby, or you don’t care because you get free power but it hurt someone else’s pocket. Bitcoin BTC Scrypt ASIC mining now a day just not profitable anymore. Only large scale data center can profit and better to let them run the show.

If you still want to have BTC Bitcoin, it’s better to buy directly from The Exchange or ebay etc. If you’re thinking about spending investing money on mining equipment and you only have up to $10K, it is still better to use that $10k to buy Bitcoin, instead of mining it. It will take you 6 months or more to get the same amount of Bitcoin you have immediately with $10K buying it directly. So it’s better to buy Bitcoin directly, you will have the Bitcoin immediately instead of mining. Mining no way you can get the same amount of Bitcoin even in 6 or more months. Again I urge you to buy Bitcoin directly instead of mining.

Same with scrypt coins mining ration. Is scrypt coin mining still profitable? NO it’s not, just like Bitcoin

Gridseed miners 5.2mh/s not working correctly? check your power volts going into the device

I have five Gridseeds 5.2mh/s, and one of them didn’t work well. It totally stopped working a few days ago. Then after I got the power outage, power back I tried the fix it and found that the PSU computer power supply that I use feeding too much volts into the gridseed.

The PSU I have was a CoolMax 1000 or 1200 watts I forgot. I use the PCie power, and I measured the volts appears to be 19-20 volts that’s crazy, suppose to be 12 volts, I don’t know what happen. So I swapped with another PSU and measured the volt a different PSU and indeed the voltage was 12 volts max, not sure why the other PSU feed so much power.

It was fixed, good so far running the gridseed at 825mh/s mining happily without any major issue so far, will see it will last. I think it should. The problem was the other PSU just feed way too much volts. Supposed to be at least 12 volts to probably 15 16 max, not 20.

Power outage due to severe storm within a few seconds it does a lot of damages

The reason I haven’t been able to blog much over the past couple of days because of the power outage here in the East Coast of the US. It’s incredible what a few seconds of high wind can do. In just a few seconds, a 70 miles per hours swept through my area of the neighborhood region, it brought destruction. Tall trees being split in half, branches broken down, up root, and so on. Probably not a good idea to have tall trees, if I do, I would chop off the branches and let it grow tall and thin, just like coconut tree.

The result were, at least 5 people died to the storm and caused major damages. Including power outage of more than half million customers for 24 hours or more.

My power was off for over 24 hours. It went down on July 8th 2014 at 6PM, and did not come back on until 9PM on July 10th. Terrible I tell you. My house pretty much new, well 4-5 years old I would consider new. All the electrical residential municipal power has been buried, but still somewhere in the old neighborhood where the power feed to us, that wire came down. For some reason, we’re the last to get our power back on. This has always been the case, when power goes out here in this area, our neighbor always the last to get power back on, it sucks really.

Luckily I have power generator and kept it running continuously all day, and shut down at night time to sleep while using the backup marine batteries. Then power it on again during the day time, I only let it rest when I need to refuel it. One thing my generate really irritate me is it uses the a lot of oil. If you got a power generator like mine, I forgot the model and brand, but what happen is it will run great and then stopped every 15 minutes or less and then 5 minutes and then 1 minute. It turns out the oil was empty, I had to refill it. So if your generator start quitting every 30 minutes then 20 minutes, then 15 minutes then 5 minutes, then 1 minute, it probably need oil. That’s the pattern.

I was able to power one refrigerator, one freezer, one HD TV and cable box, 2 laptops, one desktop, two cooling fan, fish tank water filter, and charges all my mobile devices. It’s awesome, and the generator I believe is a 2000watts, 4000watts peak I believe.

AC fan blower motor or condenser not working? here’s how to fix it

This is a new house. We’ve been here for about 5 years or so. Our AC blower or condenser motor stopped working a couple days ago. How I found out was when hearing loud humming sound in the back. Went outside the heat from the compressor unit was super hot, I noticed the motor fan not spinning. Immediately I went online and did some research. Found out many other people whom have similar AC unit from Lennox encountered similar problem and it cost even the hundreds of dollars to repair.

What I did to trouble shoot were.

  1. Pull the shut off switch so that the AC unit is off. By the way, I’m talking about the big giant compressor unit in the outside of the house with the big fan.
  2. Unscrew the whole thing. Well unscrew so that you can remove the fan and he control box, the one with a bunch of wires.
  3. Check the capacitor, ensure it’s not bulging, not leaking. Rusty is ok. If it’s bulging then the capacitor is bad, replace it. If you have a meter to test the capacitance then measure it, just to make sure it is dead. In my case it was fine.
  4. Disconnect the fan cables, ensure to take a snapshot picture of where all the wires should connect back, so you know where to connect back.
  5. Take the fan module out.
  6. Spin the fan, it should freely move easily with no effort or excessive force to move it. If it doesn’t move easily, your motor is bad. In my case, the motor was bad, I can barely spin the fan blade.
      1. Repair the fan motor instead of buying new one, however you can place an order for a new one just in case.
      2. To repair. Open the motor completely. Ensure to take snap shot pictures or remember how to put it back.
      3. Spray all parts components of the motor with Electronic Parts Cleaner spray can.
      4. Use WD40 spray to loosen the fan shaft and bearings. Repeat the process, don’t let WD40 excessively flow into the inside of the motor. Spray a little bit each time to loosen the shaft and when it can move freely you’re good.
      5. Lubricate with all purpose oil where needed inside the motor and the shaft and bearings.
      6. put the motor back together. Install the fan blade on the shaft and try spinning it, it should be good, move freely and easier than before

That’s it! 🙂

Save a couple hundreds dollars.

The latest on how to overclock your S1 Bitmain Bitcoin miner safely

The short answer is:

  1. Use ssh like putty to ssh into the S1 Bitmain miner.
  2. Type cd /etc/config then press enter
  3. Type in vim asic-freq then press enter
  4. Press Insert key on your keyboard
  5. Use arrow and enter and tab to move around, add the following:

option ‘freq_value’ ’5f05′
option ‘chip_freq’ ’393.75′
option ‘timeout’ ’36′

Ensure to hash# out all those other options.

Press Esc, then type in :wq then press enter

Type Exit then reboot the S1 miner.

Check your miner status tab, the freq now should be 393 and the temperature should be 50 or lower, higher temperature running for long time might damage the chips, add extra fan if you can, push and pull air same direction.

This work great for me, and I did it multiple times testing and the end result I got 8 s1 miner up and running with 200gh/s. My next todo would be to integrate the fan to the blade fan power connector and make it spin 100% instead of being controlled by the blade or controller.

It is definitely worth it to overclock it. Unless you pay 50 cent per kilowatts power usage per hour. I’m currently paying 12 to 13 cent per kilowatts. the 20GH/s help. Total of 1.6TH/s for my 8 S1 miner, which I will be putting up on ebay for sell soon, like in a couple weeks, then use the money to buy another miner, better.

Did you know that mission to Mars started back in the 60s first with the Russian or also known as the Soviet Union

Well I didn’t know this until today after doing some research on how many probes and tried we did in the past to Mars. Look like the Soviet Union or Russia had started the attempt to Mars at least six times before the US back in the 60s 70s. However all their initial attempts were failed, sending unmanned probes.

The US tried to send an unmanned spaceship also the first time but failed. Then the second time, USA succeed but it was just a fly by not a landed to planet Mars. It was a great s

Get a round circle fan if you want to pull the air out of your house through the window or so

I got a few cheap square box fan from Walmart for about $15 each. I created a wooden frame tight sealed with the box fan on it to pull the air out of the house through the window. It work, but it doesn’t work that well for my purpose.

My purpose was to have the fan pull out the air from a 4×8 box I have designed with lots of Bitcoins Scrypt coins miners in there that generates a lot of heat, I want to pull all the heat outside the window. Well it doesn’t work too well with that box fan. The heat did get pulled out, but the design of the square box fan have some gap at the four square corner which doesn’t really pull the air out at those corners. The heat simply get trapped and circulated within that corners, it’s not going out or going in. So if you have hot air blowing toward that corner, most likely it will splash back and trap more hot air but eventually it will flow through.

So the solution is to get the rounded circle fan it will work a lot better because there isn’t a square corner where the air will get trapped. The round circled fan should pull all the air out without any splash back at the edges or corners of the fan.

You think your life is tough? Think again after watching this video

Most of us are complaining about how tough our lives are, with or without kids. We complained about our spouses, our cars, our house, how little money we have, don’t have time for this and that. What about this little boy life. Born blind, never seen anything, never knew all the colors, what is black? what is white? what life look like? Imagine taken a walk, finding your way around. Before you start complaining about your life, think of this child and many like him.

Solar Power beat out fossil fuels in generation electricity

Finally! NOW! everyone! should consider getting solar power. Solar power can beat out fossil fuels in generating big-scale electricity! It’s not a question of if or when for ROI, but more of a question where to install it and which Grid-Tie Inverter? Have you noticed lately? power meter being upgraded? that new meter will support Grid-Tie technology where if you can generate power you can sell it back to the power company! Solar Power Panels shopping here I come!  although this news pertain to commercial but consumer can get in for a good deal as me, whom consumed hundreds thousand of killowatts per month for Cryptocoin hashing!
